You're a Talbot guy now, so I suppose I have to take your ideas more seriously than before. But I disagree with the idea (charming though it is) that our pet peeves are "examples of God's creativity in shaping us into unique individuals." Getting ticked off at something of ultimate insignificance (e.g. CD organization) seems to be more accurately a product of our sinful nature--not of God. Had I been born sans sinful nature, I doubt I would feel like tearing the hair off the woman in front of me in the express lane with 13 items.
But maybe you're right, and maybe these silly annoyances are indeed God's handiwork. Maybe Jesus was secretly ticked every time Peter used a double negative in their conversations. But I certainly hope you're wrong, and that these character flaws are not, in fact, "testimony to who He is."

Actually Derek, the idea was that I'm trying to accept some of these differences in light of God's creative. So it's not so much something between me and the person who's annoying me, but something between and me and God. Therefore, approaching my co-worker with the issue is irrelevant. You are well aware of my obsessive-compulsiveness anyway, and if I told you everything little thing that bothered me we'd never get anything done. Oh wait, we don't...
Julianne, I totally agree with the first two. That's an interesting take on paying for meals. The case I mentioned when the gal wouldn't let me pay was clearly not a date, since she'd already made it clear she wasn't interested. I was actually pretty upset/offended by her not letting me pay. Maybe I should ask instead of insisting?

-When Christians respond to Calvinism saying it makes evangelism obsolete.
-When guys think revving their car engine is possibly attractive.
-When guys insist on paying for lunch/dinner/coffee. They don't seem to understand that when the girl gets home her girlfriends call and pester her with detailed questions like, "did he pay?" and then the girl can't lie so she says, "yes," and then they say, "so it was a date!" And they don't even give the girl a chance to say, "no, he was just being a gentleman, that's what the guy is suppossed to do regardless if it's a date or not." And then everytime the girl mentions the guy, they think of him as her boyfriend. And then it just gets worse and I think this is a little bit of a run-on story with too many "ands."

How poetic that your whiny post on pet peeves would be juxtaposed against Face's reflections on accepting suffering! Thanks to your painfully specific list, perhaps now I can personally ensure that "by your suffering, God's power, grace, and love will be so visible in your life that God is glorified and others are drawn to Him."
But in the spirit of reciprocation, allow me to list a few pet peeves of my own:
1. People who air their grievances with co-workers on their blogs instead of personally approaching the offending party like a grownup.
2. People who reject certain difficult but painfully transparent teachings of Jesus based solely on the argument, "Well surely he couldn't have meant..."
3. People who think their proprietary system of CD organization is "obvious."
Yet we accomplish nothing by broadcasting these petty complaints to the sympathetic ear of the Internet. Instead, we must work together to start eliminating some of these annoyances. In the words of the great poet, "There's so much that we share / that it's time we're aware..." Well, you know.
