My guess is that even if you're NOT 21, and you make the choice to attend because the party is in your best interest, NARAL won't tell your parents you were there. It's your social life after all, right? Who are they to tell you what to do or not do?
Sure. I know there are “options.” Instead of going to the party, you could study. You could go to a friend's house. You could stay home and rent a movie. But maybe these aren't the right options for YOU.
I'm sure you know other people who've been to NARAL parties before they were 21, and they didn't regret it. It was the best thing for them at the time. I mean, you're young! Now is not the time for you to be responsible! You can't afford NOT to party, with the way your life is right now. I can't believe someone is actually asking you to go through the emotional pain and suffering that occurs when you *don't* attend a NARAL party before age 21. Think how you would be ostracized by your peers, your community, your family.
Let's be realistic: if the NARAL party weren't happening, you would end up at some other party anyway. Maybe an illegal and dangerous party. Some horrible, dingy, back-alley party in Mexico.
