Having lived in an intentional community here at Fuller for the past year, I can definately sat that your post and what Bonhoeffer had to say rings true.
I fave found that by lowering my expectations, I open myself up for suprises, and blessigngs. I'm not saying we should be synical, rather we should simply allow God to build and mold what he wants a given community to be, while symultaniously expecting that people will be people, messing it up, which is normal ok. Because I didn't have many (I wish I could say any) expectations, I have been very plesently suprised by what the Spirit has actually done, as apposed to what I wanted him to do.

Great post! I've been a reader for a while, but this is my first comment!
I'm a huge fan of community, despite it's hardships. For all of the great advantages to living in community with believers, it is by no means easy or even always enjoyable. In fact, allowing yourself to truly be known by another is quite possibly the hardest, and yet the most freeing, experience I've had.
