In more cynical moments I think we went toward the direction of consumption a long time ago. 
I&#039;m definitely concerned about Disney advertising in the pulpit, but in the end I suppose it is not that different than the Christian music or book industry doing the same thing. Still, basically bribing pastors seems to take it to another level.
Is the Narnia hype really surprising? What about many congregations&#039; response to &lt;em&gt;The Passion of the Christ&lt;/em&gt; just a couple of years ago? Or what of different churches using the pulpit as nothing more than another platform to endorse a Democrat or Republican agenda or candidate? I cannot help but think of Martin Luther King, Jr.&#039;s quote, &quot;The church is the conscience of the state.&quot; (I think state here could be expanded and include society as well.)]]></description>
