Thank you for sharing your testimony. Though I was raised in a Baptist Church, I flirted with Mormonism (and a Mormon girl) for over a year in high school. I teetered on the brink of being baptized into the LDS church for months, but eventually grew disillusioned because of the church's legalism and illogical doctrines and stopped attending any kind of church altogether for several years. I often called myself a "freelance monotheist."
In college, though, I met a Christian girl (God certainly has a sense of irony). Through her, her church (Southeast Christian in L'ville), and her campus fellowship (InterVarsity), I met the real Jesus and committed to following him. Looking back, the difference is so obvious: I never once encountered the Holy Spirit while attending a Mormon church, nor experienced one iota of what Christ has given me: freedom, purpose, true community, true worship.
