Vicky,
You highlight a very important danger that is true for all of us! We must all seek to understand what God has revealed to us through the Bible, and we should always be ready to submit to its thruths and live in light of them.
At the same time, we cannot fall into the trap of failing to refute false beliefs. We need to share God's truth with others, faithfully proclaiming the gospel to all!

This is a very interesting phenomenon--the statement that "This should come as no surprise to evangelicals who have read the Apostle Paul's revelation of the roots of human idolatry in the first chapter of Romans. Fallen humans have affections and inclinations that they then prop up with beliefs, convincing themselves that their systems are true." This reveals a danger. All of us, evangelicals and other Christians, who read Romans 1 need to take heed, I think. Are any of us guilty of "inclinations...[which we] then prop up with beliefs"? It's so easy for any of us to feel satisfied that we are on the right track with the Lord. I, for one, am constantly asking for clearer vision of what is right. It's easy to see others slip into "errors" and "misreadings" but I am reminded that each must ask in their heart: what is the Lord's way here?
