Everyone, including Darwin is part of God's plan for creation. So I wouldn't change a thing. Part of being Christian is trusting that God's plan (no matter how chaotic or radical it may appear at the time) is perfect. It would be interesting to get a true list of one's geneology though…

On the contrary! It took Hollywood three attempts to get The Maltese Falcon right. While I agree that its success is also in part due to writer/director John Huston, it was Humphrey Bogart who made Sam Spade the epitome of the hard-boiled detective. The magic of Casablanca comes from the fact that Rick Blain is a cynic, yet at the same time a sentimentalist, and that dichotomy is perfectly balanced by Bogart. Clark Gable couldn't have pulled that off.

Humphrey Bogart is an actor, not a director or writer; those movies didn't directly hinge on him! Maybe if Bogart wasn't around, they would have picked a better actor who was actually good-looking, and those movies would have been even greater.

I too am awed by this. The next iteration of this fantastic complexity is that if that couple in 452 had been delayed another 10 seconds, an entirerly different sperm may have fertilzed that egg. The global cascading ramifications of the slightest change in timing are staggering. It is things like this that make me humble about what I pray for. Though God is perfectly aware of every consequence to the thousanth generation, I can not begin to perceive even the smallest consequences of God granting my request.

Didn't this idea fuel the plot for The Terminator? As for Bogart, how many classics would be wiped from existence if his ancestors were kept from procreating? The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, The Big Sleep, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The African Queen, etc., etc., etc. Here's not looking at you, kid. Sad, truly sad.
