EE, I wasn't trying to insult you, even if the same cannot be said for your “delusional world” remark. While I can't speak for myself, I am pretty sure Roger isn't delusional. I am also pretty sure that there are many conservatives who do like Pat Robertson. Whether this constitutes the “vast majority” of them, however, is an issue for which you've offered little evidence to support your position.

What you affirm with one hand you take back with the other. If you want to have a serious conversation or debate here, you need to back up your claims. Claiming to be insulted or morally superior won't get you any where. If that's all you can put forward, then we have nothing to talk about.

1. My skin is thick enough to overlook your insults.
2. I frequent as many conservative circles as you may (even if I don't subscribe to your particular theological bent). And I know plenty of conservatives who like him just fine. If you think that PR is in the minority, you are living in a delusional world.
Anyway, whatever, this is a moot point in that, even when I'm trying to affirm you guys on here, you guys just can't take it.

If the 1.7 million members of the CC make up “the vast majority” of conservative Christians, then there must be about 2.1 million of us, and I must be in the minority that speaks only American.

The problem with what you're saying is that you're not a conservative and I am. I frequent in conservative circles. Obviously some people like him enough in order him to still be on the air. But if the “vast majority of conservative Christians like him just fine,” I would certainly know a few people who like him. You have no ground for your claim, you're just speculating and asserting.
I do agree that many outsiders see Robertson has representative of conservative theology. That's because the media gives him a spotlight when he goes loony like this. It has nothing to do with conservatives or their theology. The media rarely gives the spotlight to respectable conservatives who “the vast majority” of conservatives actually support.

It's very fair to say that. You may not know a single person, but there are enough Americans who support him and send him money that he has created a global empire. Maybe you don't like him and all of the people you know may not like him, but the vast majority of conservative christians like him just fine. Especially to outsiders, Robertson represents (especially everything wrong with) conservative theology, and to insiders, I would not be surprised if elements of… nevermind, I won't go there!

Pat Robertson no longer surprises me. There is a lot of good that the 700 Club and his various organizations do, but it is these wacko comments, rooted in a US-centered theology that has (and another kudos to Roger) hijacked conservative theology. I am glad that there are conservative voices that wont stand for this.
