Relying on your own understanding of how you think you were saved is not the best way to approach apologetics.

Since God is real--is part of our reality and has interacted with us and this world, there are evidences of Him everywhere. This is inescapable because He is real. I can't understand why you think people are dishonoring God by pointing this out as we explain to people who He is.

Since people also live in this world, they also bump into the reality of God all the time, though they ignore it. Certainly God's revelation of Himself is our source of knowledge about Him, but that doesn't mean there are not commonly accessible traces of Him from His work in this world--just as there are traces of anyone who actually exists. And I see no reason why these things should not be discussed.

God answered my intellectual questions before He opened my eyes. I knew that if He hadn't interacted with reality, He wasn't real, and if He had acted in reality, I should be able to see it. It brought glory to Him to display various truths about Himself through apologetics. Just as He worked tangibly in the world through the Exodus "so that the people would know" that He was God, so He showed Himself to be tangible in my world. He says in Exodus that He did the miracles so that the rest of the world would know. That is, they would see evidence of Him in the world and know that He was divine, powerful, and Lord of the Universe. In the same way, people can see His work now. I thank God people were there to explain many different things to me and did not only quote the Bible at me.

Just out of curiosity, do you have many conversations with non-Christians about God?

What we are talking about is why we believe He is moral. If someone is a non-Christian they do not believe in the God of the Bible. They believe in an idol that they have created. Give me an example of what you're talking about so I can be specific. I imagine they mean and entirely different God and they mean something entirely different by "moral."

No non-Christian would say I believe God is moral because He told us He was in His Word. Yet, that is how the Christian must answer.

What the apostles were speaking was the NT

Which is why I included other people in my comment about the preaching. The apostles featured in Scripture were not the only ones preaching the truth about Christ. What did those others say? Not the exact words of the New Testament, but the truth about Christ. The Holy Spirit worked through that. In the same way, I speak the truth about Christ and His work on the cross whenever I talk about the fact that it actually happened and demonstrate evidence for this, even if I'm not, at that time, reading from the New Testament.

And as Roger seems to indicate, that's fine, cause apparently apologetes have no intention of saving any souls. They just want to argue.

Brandon, how do you figure that's the case? What, on earth, was said here that would possibly give you that impression?
