Brandon, if you actually read the book, you will see that Reagan's Children refers to those of us born in the Reagan Era. The case he makes is that those of us born in this era tend to be more conservative in many issues. Because of this, he is optimistic about the culture and has faith that God, in his sovereignty, can turn generations back to himself if he wills.

Amen.
Thanks for the review Roger. I think the title says a lot. What about God's children? Are children of God also children of Reagan? Do conservatives have two daddies after all?
There is a good book review in the OPC's "Ordained Servant" that discusses Reagan's shining city on a hill metaphor:

I was very excited to see you reviewing this book. Hans is a friend of mine, and I think I can speak with a good degree of accuracy that he believes the church is essential as well. Given that his interests lie in politics, it is understandable that he emphasized that sphere of society. I wouldn't be too quick to write him off as just another Religious Right writer. Politics is one way, but not the only way. Having worked with him as leaders in campus ministry, I know how important he thinks the local church is.
After reading Reagan's Children I became an optimist. As Hans points out, the pessimistic Christian accepts as inevitable the agendas of the wicked, forgetting that God is "there and not silent."
