As far as I can tell, there isn't a coherent sentence in that entire third paragraph. I'm glad she was able to break free of “the narrative of reproduction” long enough to jump into “the narrative of worn-out liberal sound bites.”
And where exactly does she get off telling anyone what the purpose of art is? Does art have an objective purpose? And if not, why doesn't she just admit that it's merely her feebly held opinion of the purpose of art within her own little world of linguistic constructions???
I also find it very difficult to believe that she genuinely had no idea that something like this would be a “scandal.” Either she's been living in a windowless bubble since roe v. wade, or Yale just isn't producing the kind of students it used to. Sadly, I'm sure it's the later.
