Hi Han,
Since this subject fell off the main page, I'm not sure if you are still checking up on this for commentary. Even so, I will reply.
"But what if she doesn't like the decision you make? What then? Do you just say, "tough luck, toots?"
Well, for one, if the husband makes a decision that meant violating the Law of God, then the wife is not obligated to follow after her husband. Her love for God should always supercede that of her husband.
Second, a wife who does not follow and trust in her husband's decision (barring any violation of God's Law) is now in violation of her vow before God to put herself under her husband's authority. Her love for God is what makes her yield to her husband.
And third, a husband who has an attitude of "tough luck, toots" is in violation of loving his wife the way Christ loves His church. His love for God is what binds him to treat her with dignity and respect.
"And quite seriously, people are material. I'm sure you can't mean that literally."
Your criteria in your earlier post questioned as to how we can love someone we cannot see, hear or touch. But love isn't about seeing, hearing or touching. That's just the bonus.
Love is about knowing. The Scriptures is where we get to know God. His Law is where we get to know the different aspects of His character. His Son is where we get to know even more fully about His love for us.
In Christ,
Victor

Hi Face,
After the initial jolt of reading this, about a thousand questions come to mind.
For one thing, how can someone love something they can't see or hear or touch? I know that relates to other discussion, but still.
Second, what if two people disagree with each other sharply about something? Wouldn't they end up arguing about what God thinks? I can picture it now, "God told me this." "Well, God told me this." How would they even get along?
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice sentiment I suppose, and I'm mean no disrespect. But it sounds like it wouldn't make for a very fun time on the whole.
Cheers,
Han

For starters, he'd have to agree with this post! :)
But seriously, if you're really curious, go to biblegateway.com and look up Colossians 3:12 and Titus 1:7-9. This is a pretty concise description of what I'm looking for. It would be great to find a man who has these qualities *and* who loves God more than he loves me.
