About: In 2003 I graduated from high school with no set direction for my life. I spent a year in Iowa before returning to California to attend Junior College. I changed majors 3 times; from Physics to Business to Film (as you can see, no direction). I was a Christian, attending church regularly, but furthering the cause of Christ in this fallen world was not a high priority.
In 2005 I picked up an issue of TableTalk magazine, and I was re-introduced to the work of R. C. Sproul (whom I had read once in high school). Later that year, while taking a biology class with an ardent atheist professor, I picked up a copy of Lee Strobel's "The Case For A Creator." In the Fall of 2006 I came to Biola University and was introduced to the works of J. P. Moreland and John Mark Reynolds. My fate was sealed.
Just a few years ago, I was passionless. Now I have two passions: Studying the Word of God and engaging in the task of Apologetics. 1 Peter 3:15 exhorts all Christians to be ready to give an answer for the hope that we have. My goal is to be able to give my answer articulately and powerfully, but even more importantly, in love. There are many purposes for apologetics, but by far the most important is the opening of minds and the softening of hearts for the work of the Holy Spirit. If we don't care about and pray for those with whom we engage in apologetics, we fail to fulfill this purpose. As a wise man once said, "Take a stand for the Truth, but do it in love fool!"

I’m a huge Trekkie. I admit to loving all ten movies (yes, even Nemesis) and all 5 of the TV shows (including all four seasons of the short-lived and disappointing Enterprise). When it comes to anything Trek I have a hard time being objective. So it was a foregone conclusion that I would love J. [...]

Themed Bibles are generally a bad idea. For one thing, every part of God's Word is meant to speak to every Christian. Themed Bibles tend to emphasize only the parts of the Bible that speak about the particular theme, leaving other potentially important aspects of Scripture under-emphasized or ignored (and here I'm thinking primarily within [...]

Last night, Ben Stein came to Biola Univeristy to promote his new film, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. In the film, Ben Stein invenstigates the employment termination of several University science professors due to their doubts about Darwinism and support of Intelligent Design. Find out more about the film here. Recently, Dr. R. C. Sproul interviewed Ben [...]

Some excerpts from the article describing this amazing feat (HT: The Pearcey Report): A man paralysed from the neck down has shown he can open email, control a TV and move objects with a robotic arm by thought alone. The 25-year-old American patient, Matthew Nagle, had a computer-linked implant placed in his brain that enabled [...]

Can we have any true knowledge in a world where we developed by chance? The concept of creation or design is the crucial assumption that believers of the nineteenth century overlooked when they thought the sciences could proceed without any distinctively Christian presuppositions. Apart from the doctrine of creation or design, there is no [...]

“[Fellow seminary student] Joseph heard me out, and after a moment's silence, said: 'You know, they are fooling us, there is no God….' “I was astonished at these words. I had never heard anything like it before. “'How can you say such things, Soso?' I exclaimed. “'I'll lend you a book to read; it will [...]

I thought it would be helpful to define the main idea behind ID theory. Nancy Pearcey explains it simply and clearly: Critics say the concept of design does not belong in science. They argue that it is a “science-stopper” that puts an end to scientific investigation. The head of an evolution advocacy group recently [...]

Ought we to dismiss the work of apologists simply because they’re defending their particular worldviews? In an interesting discussion that ensued in the comments for my recent post on apologists, a reader made this charge: Whereas the rationally-minded individual arrives at a tentative conclusion through argument and logic, the apologist already knows the conclusion, [...]
