Curse You, 24

Date October 25, 2007 Posted by Amy Hall

The trailer for Season Seven is out.  So much for my decision not to watch this season.

I honestly didn't think anything could change my mind this time, but how can I not watch after seeing that?  I've tried to break up with 24 before but am always lured back by its empty promises.  “This time, things will be different, Amy.  I've really changed!”  No, you haven't changed.  Deep down I know the truth.  The sad part is, even though I know it's a trick–that I'll get sucked in by this awesome trailer only to find that Season Four is still the last good season, I'll be there in January.  Sure, I'll tell myself that I'll only watch the first few episodes to see if it's any good, but who am I kidding?  Once I start, I'll feel a responsibility to see the storyline through to the end.  That is how they've won the last two years.  Oh, when will this useless, codependent relationship end?!

Amy, last season was just awful and I also decided to not continue with the series. But here's what I think I will do it. If you plan to watch it *anyway*, maybe you can blog here and tell us how it's going so that – if it's good – we can come back.

    whattya think?

LOL! You want me to take one for the team, eh? Well, I guess I can do that. Kind of a reverse designated driver.

    I need a 12-step program.

24 and Philosophy will be out soon to further suck you in.

Or a 24 step program. OK, I admit that was foolishness, but I could not help myself. Looks very good, though. :-)

**Caution, those of you who didn't see the trailer and don't want to know…SPOILERS AHEAD.**

Y'know what? I'm still not buyin' it. Chick president, chick partner, Jack making his “I'm not sorry” case in front of Judge Red Foreman, AND the villain is a bald, ugly, undead Tony Almeida? Why not just bring back the mountain lion from season 2? Ridiculous.

That having been said, I will probably end up watching it, just because I will need to know why Amy is shouting and gasping at the television down the hall. :) But listen here, 24: You will have to do MUCH more than this to truly win me back.

And you will have to do it with good writing. Or fewer pointless torture scenes. Or a no-longer-two-dimensional Jack Bauer. Or less time on irritating subplots involving brand-new characters to whom you are desperate to endear us.

Or you could bring back Chase. I'm just sayin'.

It really is an addiction. I saw the trailer last night and felt the cravings start — and it doesn't even begin until January! I'll be a basket case by then.
